Colour Trends : Spring / Summer 2010 and Skin Tones.

This season colours are all about understated nudes, and soft pastels. Pinks, blues, browns, and greens are a couple of colours to look out for. There are so many colours to choose from, therefore there are many options when choosing the right colour for you.


Finding the right colours for your skin tone is very important, because with the wrong colours in (cosmetics or clothing) ; your skin tone will look tired and drained. Also your eyes might appear shadowed with dark circles, and even your teeth can have a slight yellow hue. With the right colours, your skin tone will look radiant and glowing. Your eyes will appear brighter and clearer, and your hair will reflect highlights.


If you have a cooler skin tone go for "jewel tones" colours, such as blues, greens, pinks, purples, magenta's, blue-based reds etc. If you have a warmer skin tone go for “earth tones” colours, such as yellows, oranges, browns, yellowish greens, and orange-based reds etc.


If you don’t know your skin tone, look at the underside of your arm, if your veins appear a bluish you are cool toned (as I am) , if your veins appear greenish you are warm toned. Trend Watch : Patterned/Printed Pants

Pants over the past years have been worn predominantly in block colours, they were the basics of an outfit. Frequently worn as a subtle item so that attention went to detailed tops, jackets, sweaters etc. However, it's 2010 and  pants are getting their own back.


As one of the trends for Spring 2010, patterned pants offer a whole new range for wardrobe options. Stripes, floral, graphic prints, abstract shapes, bold and colourful or go subtle and sophisticated. Almost anything goes for this trouser trend in 2010.


When it comes to the cut, the choice is once again yours. Go skinny like Balenciaga or free and flowing like Roberto Cavalli, both are strong styles. The likes of DKNY and Etro, are relaxed and they fall under the lounge wear category. The styles most likely to be seen on the streets are is a toned down take on the harem pants, relaxed at the hips and tapered at the ankles. Avoid boot cuts and flares, and fabrics that are too heavy. Light fabrics work better for Spring.


How to wear patterned pants :

• Be creative, don't be afraid to mix patterns. Clashing prints can give a sense of careless charm. Just don't over do it, or you'll end up looking like a clown.
• Bold prints will draw attention to your lower half, so if its not your best feature don't go for skinny cuts, and try relaxed fits instead.
• Pair loose fitting pants with either a figure hugging top or a baggier top half tucked in for a nonchalant look.

Trend Alert : Future Warrior 2010

The warrior trend has been around for quite sometime now, however its evolved into something wildly fierce, that exudes sex appeal and confidence. The 2010 warrior trend is a mix between military and tribal influences, a match made in fashion in heaven! Its bold and commands respect. This trend is a definite head turner, and I can't wait to strut my stuff in my "Warrior" outfit. So get creative, there isn't any defined rules to this trend, think Amazonian etc.


Things to look out for :


- Metal Plating
- Tunics, especially in leather
- Chain - mail inspired detailing
- Tribal inspired motifs
- Accessorise, be bold with jewelry based on ancient culture, those particularly in gold.
- Sequins is a perfect way to mix with metals, and gives any outfit a modern twist.
- Studded belts and coats are another way to create instant warrior edge
- Finally Gladiator sandals are a must, nothing more Warrior than gladiator sandals!
