8 Questions Tag!

The beautiful Lu'Anne of "Weesha's World" tagged me (thank you lovely!), so on with the questions! 8 Questions Tag :

The Rules : The rules are to answer 8 questions and then make up 8 new ones and to tag 8 others!

1. What would you ask for if a genie granted you 3 wishes?
I would ask to win the lottery, live a happy life, and to remain humble.

2. What are 3 things you love the most about yourself?
I love my eyes. I think although they're quite small, they are my best features. I love the color of them and they are a deep brown and crystal clear, people say I have pretty eyes, well I have to agree lmao. I love my cheeks (the ones on my face lmao), I receive so many compliments on them, I think I have great cheekbones, my drama teacher would always talk about them, which made me feel special lol. Lastly but certainly not least, are my boobs, I get a lot of comments on them too lmao, they make feel feminine, and sexy.

3. Who is your style icon?
My Grandma, she has always been fashionable, even now in her "Golden Years". She still gets her hair done, and she leaves the house looking like a true fashionista. I think I get my love for fashion from her, I remember playing in her walk in closet when I was 2-3 years old. She had such a decadent room, everything in her room was pretty much designer brand, so she is my style icon. Hopefully one day I'll be able to have a walk in closet lmao.

4. Do you have a favorite quote or any words of wisdom to share?
"How someone treats you is their karma. How you react is your karma" - I live by this quote, I think you have to be very mature to handle difficult situations, and I have been in plenty of those, and each time I am getting better with dealing with them. If someone treats you badly, cut them off and keep on going, negativity thrives off of negativity, the best way to deal with is to be positive and keep a smile on your face.  "Don't dish out, what you can't take back" - if you're going to judge someone, be prepared to be judged back.

5. When you were a kid, what did you want to become when you grow up?
I wanted to be everything, I wanted to be a doctor, a astronaut, a lawyer (still do), a fashion designer (still do), a news reporter, a teacher etc. I wanted to do it all lmao.

6. 5 years from now, when you look back at this phase in you life, what do you think you'll say?
Hopefully I'll say "Wow, I've come a long way....and life is fabulous!"

7. What kind of music are you into?
I'm into all kinds of music, I love R & B, Dancehall, Bashment, Garage, Pop Techno, Slow Jams, Jazz, Arabic (Nancy Ajram is my favorite), and currently I'm really into traditional Native American music.

8. What is the most important lesson you have learnt in your life so far?
The most important lesson I've learnt is to be grateful and count your blessings. I've been through so much, I've hit rock bottom and had to climb back up only to be knocked down again. However after all I've been through, I reminded myself that "there are people in worst conditions than you LaCara",so just be grateful for the little things, that way bigger and better blessings will come your way.

Here are my questions :

  •  What's your favorite color and why?
  •  Who is your favorite designer?
  •  What is your best feature?
  •  Can you describe your personality?
  •  Where do you find inspiration in regards to fashion?
  •  If you could change one thing in your life right now, what would you change?
  •  If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?
  •  What is your favorite quote?

Simply Be : Modelling Competition Q & A

Hello dolls, I hope all of you are having a fabulous day, as I said in my previous post Simply Be was going to answer some of the questions that I had about their competition. Well today I am going to share this exclusive Q and A with you, and I will also be keeping my blog updated about this competition, so that's something to look out for ;)

Simply Be Q and A :

1.) What made Simply Be want to do this competition?

As you know, plus size is a hot topic these days. Everyone’s talking about it. Over the last couple of years, we’ve started to see plus size models on the catwalks and the covers – it seems curves are finally becoming the norm in the fashion world.

And as a plus size fashion retailer, we wanted to show our support for this movement, while giving our customers what they really want – curvy models they can relate to wearing the Simply Be collection.

2.) What is the goal or purpose of this competition?

On the one hand, we want to show women just how beautiful fuller figured women are – you won’t just meet the winner, we’ll be introducing our customers to all the finalists. It’s our way of showing that beauty comes in every shape and size.

And on the other hand, we wanted to give our customers what they want. Over the last couple of months, the plus size debate has raged on our Facebook page and our fans have shown a real interest in seeing the collection on curvier women. Naturally, we already use plus size models. But what the fashion industry sees as plus size and what our customers see as plus size can be two different things. So we want to find
someone that everyone can relate to.

3.) If this competition is successful, will there be more competitions like this?

It’s certainly something we’d consider. At the moment, we’re just focusing on this competition, but if our customers like it, if they want more of the same, then it might well become a regular thing.

4.) Is there any particular look that Simply Be is specifically looking for?

Not at all. This competition is open to anyone aged 18 or over who wears a size 14 or above. We don’t mind if you’re aged 20 or 50, blonde or brunette – there’s no particular look. It’s more about having a sparkle in your eye and smile on your face - though by all means, feel free to show us your pouts ;-)

5.) Do you think that plus size model's will soon be freely accepted on the mainstream catwalk?

That’s a tough one. There’s no doubt that plus size models are being seen more on the catwalks and we think this trend will continue in the future. With any luck, in five years time, no one will bat an eyelid at size 16 models on the catwalks.

But at Simply Be we believe in designing for curves. What works on a size 0 model won’t necessarily work on a size 16 one. So for plus size models to take their rightful place on the catwalks, designers need to cater for their curvier figure. Until they do that, they’re not really being accepted.

6.) Where does Simply Be see itself in 5 years time?

As you probably already know, we’re launching in the US this month. We’ve already crossed the pond and our plus size fashion collection is proving popular in Germany, Italy, Spain, France, Portugal and the Netherlands.

So in five years time, we want to be doing exactly what we’re doing now – but on a bigger scale! Giving full figured women on-trend options… designed for their figures… in a great size range. And the more women we can reach, the better – because every women deserves to have a gorgeous wardrobe that loves her curves.

Well there you have it ladies, you've heard it directly from the amazing Simply Be! If you have any questions, I'll gladly pass them along! So tell me your thoughts! Are you going to enter, and if so why?
