Coming out of : The "Blogging" Closet

Blogging has become a passion of mine, it allows me to be “me”. However, I’ve been having inner conflict lately, I want to shout from the roof tops about my blog, but at the same time I’m terrified of doing just that. At the moment I am not surrounded, by positive people and I really don’t anyone negative to have access to my blog. I’ve worked to hard, for all of this to fall apart, which is why I’m hesitant about saying anything about it to anyone. I’ve only told a handful of people, I wish I could tell more, but at this time it isn’t possible. I don’t care what people will say about my blog, it’s just frustrating, because there are so many jealous people around and they don’t want to wish me well, which is why I’m keeping such a tight lid on about my blog. I find it amusing and confusing at the same time, because anyone, and I mean anyone can create a blog…it is free after all, but that aside, if you have something to say or share a blog is a perfect solution. I don’t understand how anyone can feel threatened by me, because I write about fashion and my thoughts. A lot of people I am associated with (especially on fb) are still stuck in that childish mentality, they don’t think outside the box, where as I do. I mean I’ve started getting rid of people on face book, who I no longer speak to and those who I don’t need in my life anymore. It’s a tedious process, but I’m trying to move forward with my life, and I’m trying to get to the next step. I ‘m trying to deal with my inner conflict the best way I can, and that is for me to blog about it.

What I would like to know is, have any of you been through this or something similar? I mean how did you feel when you first started your blog, did you have the support, or was you nervous about saying anything about your blog? How did you overcome it? I would really appreciate your insight!

God Bless,
Love,
LaCara

my close friends and family knew i was starting a fashion blog (some even read it, haha), but i did it more for me and my likes and dislikes not for theirs... which is why i don't care if they read it because some of them have no interest in fashion whatsoever! i put the link to my blog on my facebook page, but i didn't make any status update saying i had one, so people have to visit my page and read my information to find out.. although there have been a few times when i did post something about it through a status. i figured if someone i'm not close to wants to read it, why not? i haven't received any criticism because of it, so i'm happy!

just let people know.. if they want to read it, they will! if not, they won't :)

Awe, that really sucks that you have to hide your blog in a sense to avoid the negative nancy's. Everyone I meet knows about my blog and I don't mind. I've been lucky enough not to encounter the negative people that some have encountered. If they are talking about me, they must be doing a good job of doing it behind my back because I haven't heard anything. Then again, I say TO HELL WITH EM! :) I could care less what people think and/or say!

I'v been blogging for almost 2 yrs now and I only recently started telling my real life friends about my blog. I've invited only a few selected friends to check it out and I listed it on my facebook but that's it. I don't talk about it or bring it up and still get uncomfortable when others bring it up even though it's always positive reactions. It's really hard to put yourself out here, we're quite personal and vulnerable with this blogging thing but others are quite indifferent to it.

Take your time, if you're uncomfortable about your friends knowing about this or saying something negative, you wouldn't be able to blog truthfully. Some might care, some won't and some will bitch, make sure you're ready to handle all reactions so that it doesn't effect your blogging :)

Thank you so much ladies, this has been getting me down, and I'm glad to hear I'm not alone.

@ Tigeress Kitten - that is quite tricky, with you working in retail and you don't want anyone from seeing your blog etc. But I think business cards is a great idea! I say give it a trial run, and see how that goes. I hope it all works out honey :)

@ Jill - Thank you, I think I might just put the link in my info page, someday lmao! :)

@ Nik - LOL I'm glad you haven't encountered any negativity, maybe I should just bite the bullet and put it out there...

@ Lu - Thank you so much! I've only told 5 people, 3 who are my family and the other 2 are friends (who now I wish I didn't tell), but I think I will reveal my blog very soon, because I'm proud of it. I suppose I need to work on dealing with other people's reactions.

@ Anika - Thank you, that means alot to me! I'm overwhelmed by the support I've recieved! :)

Thanks again ladies, for your insight, I'll take everything into consideration! Sending loads of positive vibes and love your way! :D

Fortunately I've had support from friends/family since day one of my blog. And you have the support from all of us! You do whatever you feel is necessary to succeed in life and with your blog. If someone does not like what you do/post, then too bad. This is your blog, thoughts, and feelings. They should be able to respect that, at the very least. Out of all the people in the world, yours friends and famiy are the ones you should share your blog with, without any hesitation. I hope you find a resolution and peace soon! <3
