Fatties United....

By now, you've probably read the scandalous article over at Marie Clarie, and while I'm still reeling after that scathing 'article', I feel such pride that there was united front amongst the plus-size people of the world. Today, there was such a strong solidarity not only amongst fat people, but all people who believe in humane dignity. Lately, I've been reading such negative articles about fat people, and I truly thought that society were really offended by us, but how wrong I was! Fat, skinny, tall, short, black, white, all sorts of people stood up for us 'fatties' today, I was overwhelmed by the support! While this article was truly horrendous, the comments today has proven that we are one step closer to society accepting fat people.

Regardless, of what the media says about us, we are all beautiful. Each of us, are truly unique, and today only highlighted the beauty that I see when I look in the mirror and at others. Today, there was such a strong support, that I hope it continues once this scandal dies out, because it showed me that there are people out there who accept 'fatties' just the way we are. Embrace who you are, if we want to see change, we have to change our way of thinking and habits. So no more 'hate' talk, just live life, and be happy regardless of size!

As for Marie Claire, they are probably sweating bullets & shitting bricks, because this was the biggest FAIL of 2010.

To, Maura Kelly I respect the fact that you apologised, however you shouldn't have posted that article in the first place. Now, I am all for 'freedom of speech', but your article was a pure 'hate' speech, and to be quite honest, there is enough hate in the world, we don't need anymore. Not only has this article, made you look like a 'sizest jerk', but you've jeporadized your intergrity, and you sold out. Apology or no apology, you should've down the right thing, and told your editor to write it herself!

To, the Editor in Chief, you should be ashamed of yourself. You used Maura Kelly, as a scapegoat, but fortunately she was smart enough to mention you in her 'article', you're definitely going down with her, along with your magazine. Anything for a cheap buck, but I guess it doesn't matter what happens now, as long as you were in the public eye, right?

If you do decide to address Marie 'Fail' Claire, whether it be on Facebook or Twitter, make sure to UNFOLLOW them after, they don't deserve your support.

What are your thoughts on 'Marie Claires' article? Drop me a comment!

"So anyway, yes, I think I'd be grossed out if I had to watch two characters with rolls and rolls of fat kissing each other ... because I'd be grossed out if I had to watch them doing anything. To be brutally honest, even in real life, I find it aesthetically displeasing to watch a very, very fat person simply walk across a room — just like I'd find it distressing if I saw a very drunk person stumbling across a bar or a heroine addict slumping in a chair."

Wow... really? Fat people are likened to the stumbling drunkard and the nodding junkie. REALLY. I couldn't read beyond this point... that made me laugh and click the "X" because that was more than enough for me to form an opinion. I've been a fat person my whole life. My grandpa used to spoil me with treats and sweets and lots of hugs and kisses. Along with genetics (err, my doctor actually REALLY told me I was larger boned. LOL), I'm sure that brand of affection led to my obesity. I am MORBIDLY OBESE. That's just what it is, and I'm not ashamed of it. Now while I technically know it's not "healthy" to be as fat as I am, I.. Wait this can be a blog post.. I think I will make it one. Long story short, that Marie Claire article is and was a hot ass mess, and its unadulterated hatred at its worse.

Thanks ladies!!

@ D.C. - thank you sweetie!

@ Stephanie - Google it and you'll see, I refuse to give Marie Claire any advertisement, that's why I didn't post the link.

@ ZAG - I hear ya girl! I've been big since I was born, I was 9lbs and 21 inches, some people are fat get over it! And her apology was on another level of b/s!

I read that article and was shocked that they even published it. Imagine if she had been just as discriptive and hateful, but instead of every reference to fat, it was to an aspect of a particular race- there would be international outrage. I'm not even going to look at a Marie Claire on a news stand anymore. Fat people disgust her? Well her article made be utterly nauseous.
I really hope they suffer the consequences of their narrow minds and stupidity.

P.S when FashionStyleAdvice first contacted me for a guest post about plus size fashion, I immediately thought about recommending you! I really think you should contact her, the more contributors the better and you're an excellent writer!

@ Lu - I really don't know what they was thinking. How can editor encourage one of their writers to write a hate speech? It's crazy!

And thank you so much, that's so sweet! But I don't know what I'd write about...I'll contact her when a good idea pops into my head ;D

Thank God there are writers like you that can voice our opinion. I first saw it on twitter and thought it was a joke but no. I was so pissed at the advice list she gave, as if being fat was equivalent to unhealthy and stupid. It's beyond me and realize we have a lonnnng way to go.

Seriously, when I read that I could not believe my eyes. Forget the fact that she wrote it for a second, but how the hell did she get the green light to publish it?
