Fat is just a word....

Ever heard "Sticks and stones may break your bones, but words will never hurt you"?
Well I used to disagree with that. Growing up as an overweight child, words definitely hurt me, especially the three letter word, "fat". It always felt like a slap in the face every time I heard that word, because apparently being "fat" was bad and undesirable. Now that I'm older I've learnt that, "Fat" is just a word :

Definition of Fat: having an (over)abundance of flesh.

"Fat" doesn't define who we are as a person, nor does it represent who we are, it is just a word. I am no longer hurt by the word, I don't cringe with painful embarrassment and I no longer feel outraged when someone calls me fat, it's a descriptive word, it just describes my appearance and nothing more. My appearance does not define me as a person, my appearance is just the surface of who I am. "Fat" is no longer a bad word to me, I embrace it because I have claimed it back, it's not all the negative things you see and hear in the mainstream media. As I believe in the "Fat Acceptance Movement", I have to accept the word, because I've been haunted long enough by it, it doesn't scare me anymore, and it doesn't affect my mood like it used too. I am comfortable with who I am and my appearance, fat rolls and all lol.

God Bless,

Love,
LaCara

What you just said is so true. As a kid I had a normal weight and I was pretty. When I hit my teenage years I gained weight and people were acting differently with me. I was no longer a little doll. Then, during all this time I was in a sport competition group so I lost that weight and people acted differently again. Guys where all kind and some of my girl friends were jealous. It hurted me so much because I was not different inside. But I was trying to be low-profile, not beeing in the spotlight, just to keep my friends. Then I gained weight again and it changed everything...again. Like a circle. People's behavior changes depending on where you are in comparaison to them. Now, I don't care anymore. I'm not afraid anymore. Now, I try and take my rightful place. So, call me fat if you want to, it's just an adjective. I'm also blonde, I'm short, I have long feet and blue eyes. So what!!!

Thank you so much ladies! :D

@ DC - I absolutely know how that feels, I've always been big, and when I was in middle school I recieved alot of attention from males and my girlfriends didn't like that one bit and they quite often used to comment about my weight, so when I tried being lowkey and out the spotlight the more attention I recieved it was a no win situation. So I decided forget it, I'm not going to be someone I'm not to please people...and I agree people change depending on where they're at compare to you.

@ Lala - thank you honey! :D

Much love ladies <33
