30 Letters of Summer : Day 3 - Your Parent

Dear Mama,

I am your daughter, I look like you and I act like you! I guess you really did claim me lol. For 18 years, you’ve struggled being a single parent, you struggled to continue living and be strong. But mama when I look at you, I see strength, I see unconditional love, and I see perseverance. You’ve worked so hard to give us so much, and at times I don’t always appreciate it, but I love you! My pride for you is eternal, I am proud to call you my mama, and I’m proud to be your daughter. You’ve given me so much, you gave me your intelligence, your feisty attitude, and your wisdom. So thank you for these valuable qualities. Mama when I become successful, I’m gonna send you on a permanent holiday, after all you’ve been through you deserve a rest and so much more. When I was younger, I didn’t understand why you had to work so hard, but now I realised if you didn’t I wouldn’t be where I am today. You’ve sacrificed so much for me, and I don’t know how I could repay you for all that you’ve done. We weren’t close when I was young, but as I matured I started to value the time we’ve spent together. I love our philosophical conversations, I love our witty banter, and I love our heart-to-hearts. I love it when you laugh, because that way I know you’re not too sad, which is why I try and make it my daily mission to make you laugh. You don’t voice how you truly feel sometimes, and I know you’re crying on the inside, but mama, I promise better days are gonna come. If I had a magic wand, I would wave away all your pain and frustrations, and grant you nothing but happiness and love. I wish you wouldn’t dwell on the past, but I know that’s easier said than done, I wish you would see how far you’ve come and grown, instead of seeing what you didn’t achieve; because mama you’ve achieved so much! I’m sorry that I sometimes snap at you, or make you angry, I don’t mean it, I love you with all my heart. If it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t be the strong woman I am today, you’ve raised me well, and I wouldn’t change that for anything in the world. I love you mama.
Love,
LaCara
